It is a pure element with no fillers or irritating metals added, so it is safe for even the most sensitive ears. Unlike cheaper metals labelled "hypoallergenic," these are unalloyed and entirely nickel-free, and have no trace of irritating metals. To get the gold tone, they have been anodized by passing electrical current through the wire, therefore no additional materials are used in their production at all.

Backs are made of clear silicone. I do not use any metal butterflies due to metal sensitivities, as even those labelled hypoallergenic cause reactions for a lot of people. Two sets of clear silicone backs are included to ensure there is an extra set if one goes missing.
